Wylie Bay (WA 142) continues to curve round from the rock outcrop for 1.3 km to the lee of Wylie Head where it faces east. Waves decrease from about 1 m to less than 0.5 m and the beach transforms from a continuous bar with a 50 m wide surf zone to a sheltered reflective beach used to launch the boats (Fig. 4.37).

Bilbunya Beach extends from the dunes at the base of the Wylie Scarp 45 kilometres to Wattle Camp. Le Grande Beach (WA 141) is one of the longer beaches on the south coast. It commences below the northern slopes of Mount Le Grande and spiral to the north-northwest and finally west for 20 km to terminate at a small granite outcrop 1 km west of Wylie Head. A surfer believed to be an adult male was involved in a serious shark bite incident at 10:45am on 9th October 2020 while surfing at Kelp Beds surf break near Esperance. WA Police report a surf board has been recovered from the water, however, at this time the surfer has not been located. A marine search and rescue operation is ongoing in the area.
